Timeline2013
-Began the patent process -Hired Buche and Associates Law Firm out of Houston, Texas -9 prototypes created, each that does something slightly different…. Some prototypes have been modified, therefore there are probably only 7 true prototypes 2014 -Revised and consulted with Buche Law Firm for several iterations -Purchased a professional patent search for similar products, none of which were found to be able to lift the capacity that the ultimate grab-all system could lift -Consulted a physics teacher to gain perspective on mechanical advantage of the product -Reached out to Black and Decker and learned about their business model -Reached out to Lori Grenier’s website, indicated a winner (very preliminary) -Started researching different companies to reach out to -Developed videos and website -Did preliminary market research, random sampling of people, completely anonymous 2015 -Received the patent after lawyers met with patent examiner -Met with Jeff Dyson and Paul Latiolais, the business professionals at Lamar University -Jeff was interested in putting the product in M & D, mentioned meeting the ACE Hardware buyer his son uses -Jeff referred us to Scot Sheldon, a lawyer in Beaumont that is an inventor -Visited Tooling Technologies in Houston for a price approximiation on reproducing the product, international and national pricing came back too expensive 2016 -Met with Scot Sheldon and confirmed that we need to license to manufacture -Reached out to a friend that has a friend who was on Shark Tank, waiting for us to supply a go-to market plan -Went to Entrepreneurs Bootcamp at LU, took advice and connected with Jack Gill (inventor/professor) and Larry Lawson (inventor/native to the area) -Met with Mark Sowders at Capital One who was also at the Bootcamp, has a marketing pedigree, very interested in the product, also waiting on a go-to market strategy -Students at Lamar University chose the product to build a business plan and present it to their professors, other students, and the public. |
